Hey I'll be attending up at the U starting Fall this year and although I'm very firm on my decision to go to Minnesota,I wanna know first hand what the IT's freshman/1st year engineering program is like and how it compares to some of the other better known universities such as les just say perhaps Purdue?...........
any thoughts?..........I really don't care what chemical or computer engineering is like cause I'll probably definitely transfer next year(:(....but I'll always be a gopher at heart:P)......i just wanna know how good the freshman engineering courses are like....

I'm not an engineer, but as far as I know, most freshman year courses engineers take are intro courses like calc, chem, physics, etc. and you don't start the core classes until sophomore year or later. If anyone knows more than I do, please correct me.

Like the above poster, I'm not an engineer student (as I'm still in hs), but I have friends at the U who are freshmens in IT. As far as I know, they're taking basic calc, chem, physics, and one of them is taking bio right now. Even if you are adamant on your major (this friend is doing aerospace engineering), you won't take courses pertaining to that major until sophomore/junior year.
