Engineering Chances

GPA: ~94% (about a 3.9) (9-11) - School doesn't weight.
Rank: School doesn't rank.
State: NJ
SAT (composite): 730 m, 610 cr, 700 (from a 560) w - 9e (1340/2040)
SAT II: 760 chem & 710iic & 700ic
Essays: Should be good
Recommendations: Should be great
EC: I have a lot of community service using my comp sci/comp eng skills & have volunteered in a nonprofit's finance dept (>400 hr). I also placed in several state computer competitions and one national computer competition. I have several leadership positions. I have my own technology and multimedia consulting company (we provide disc jockey services to data recovery to database powered websites to security camera setup).

As you can see, I'm a super duper hardworker and I think that that will be seen through my essays and recommendations. I'm applying to McCormick for Electrical/Comp Eng. What are my chances? What should I work on to increase my chances?

If you don't apply, you have zero chance of getting in.

The thing is, there are variables beyond test scores and grades and rank. Wow them with your essays and see how it pans out. If you don't get in, you'll have given it your best shot and will have a great application in order for other schools.

Best of luck.

I was want to determine whether the school is a reach, match or safety. If the school is a match school, chances are I'd not sleep one night...just to make that essay 10x better. If it's a reach school...it may not be worth it.

You get what I'm trying to say here?

I personally think that NU is a match for you. Don't listen if people after me tells you your scores have to be higher or that BS. I know people that got near 1600, you got better than me, and I got in. Just show them that you love the school, and that you truly want to be there. You'll make it.
