Engineering Energy Minor?

I am currently in mechanical engineering. I have always debated whether to choose petroleum but i know mechanical is more versatile. I was hoping to do an energy minor to be able to practice petroleum if i wished. Would this minor actually help or was this just something i had in my head?
help pleaseeee

You won’t need to energy specialization, mech is good enough if you want to do drilling or production engineering. As for reservoir engineering, you might need courses in petroleum eng, well testing, flow in porous media, and introductory courses in geology/geophysics.

energy minor is nice though. certainly puts petroleum into perspective.
