is that true? Is the workload significantly harder? coz that's what i heard

well... Engineering classes in itself is harder, and generally is thought of harder than LSA classes. The only honors college is in LSA (i think), so...

yes, engineering is harder, but it's not the real honors college... because the real honors college focuses on liberal arts, and not engineering.

He means in the sense that the engineering school is Michigan's best/prestigious school.

He probably saw the Facebook group.

Well... Ross imo, is the best ;)

lol..ya i saw the facebook group..ahaha.i actually joined it

In terms of difficulty, engineering students work HARD, probably more than business. In general, engineering majors have a lower GPA standard for recruiting because everyone knows how tough engineering courses are. Be prepared to work!

i still don't think it's the "real" honors college.
engineering students complain too much, especially the ones i know. they feel that since they get the most work, they deserve to be the most highly regarded program at umich.

I know what you mean. My friends in engineering are gonna drag me basically to study with them, even though I might not need it...

oh yay... :'(

"engineering students complain too much, especially the ones i know. they feel that since they get the most work, they deserve to be the most highly regarded program at umich."

um..arent they the most highly regarded program along with business at umich?LOL

i don't think so.

i'd rank it like: business, pharmacy, engineering

I have no idea what you guys are talking about. Michigan's Business and Engineering schools are indeed amazing...but they aren't ranked higher or more highly regarded than LSA, Music, Nursing, Architecture etc... Have you guys even check the department rankings in the college of LSA?

Only Cal, Harvard and Stanford have colleges of LSA that are more highly regarded than Michigan's.

If you want to have a fun first year like most of your friends will have and get a good GPA, turn back now. I am jealous of kids from high school that were below average and now have 3.8's and still have the time of their lives. Engineering here is ridiculous.

You can have fun while being an engineer, and still get fine grades, it's doable with time management.

once u stop defining ur quality of life by how many times u go out on thursday nights, then u can have fun while getting good grades

<3 Thursdays

Chummer - I see your point - but since engineers from Michigan do just fine with a 3.0 grade point (even in non-engineering graduate school admissions) it is hard to generate much sympathy. Yes, by all accounts engineering at Michigan is extremely demanding, but there's little doubt one receives a lot for what they put into it and by that measure concerns about a deflated grade point relative to other schools or departments appear a bit attenuated.
