“What master’s degree can an engineer earn which will get him/her in management with completely leaving engineering.”

Do you mean “with” or “without” completely leaving engineering?

If you meant what you wrote, my question to you is why study engineering if you want to leave it? i suspect that you meant “without” though and i will answer your question based on that assumption.

Having a technical education is a plus since you can learn the business from the bottom up, and that is exactly what you should do after getting an engineering degree. Once you have worked for a few years, you will be able to see if an MBA will be of advantage to your career goals or whether you need a M.S. in engineering to advance in the direction you seek.

In general, having a B.S. in engineering in combination with an MBA will be a very good thing for getting into management. however, as I mentioned above, go for the MBA after you are sure about your career path, it is likely that your employer will be supportive and even pay for some of the cost!
