I am a current high school senior. I am going to start my college applications soon, but I don’t know where to apply. I am looking to go major in engineering. I know Clemson and NC State are good engineering schools in my area. What are other good engineering schools that are in/close to South Carolina? Thanks!
Have you talked to your parents about what they will contribute, so that you can check affordability of each school in its net price calculator?
What type of engineering?
University of South Carolina, Georgia Tech, Furman, University of Georgia, UNC Greensboro, WCU, and Wofford have engineering.
Furman and Wofford do not have engineering, except as a 3+2 dual-degree transfer-preparation program.
Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, U Maryland, Johns Hopkins, Duke, NCSU, Vanderbilt, UVA, U Florida, U Tennessee, Auburn, Clemson, U Central Florida, U Alabama
What engineering discipline interests you? You should always apply to your own state’s public university engineering schools. Admission to Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech is very selective and competitive. N. Carolina State is very good too but not as hard to get into. Vanderbilt is very good but under-appreciated for engineering. U of Tennessee-Knoxville has great Nuclear Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Materials Engineering departments.

OP, can you give stats and money parameters? And if there is a specialized area you are interested in. If you are in SC, it’s going to be hard to beat instate options financially if you have a tight budget unless you have high stats that would get you good money at a few places like Alabama.
