Engineering - Northwestern, UC Berkeley

Well, I've gotten all my college acceptance and waitlist letters (no rejections! =) ), and I've narrowed it down to Northwestern and Berkeley, both of which I have been admitted to.

In Berkeley, I made it to the College of L&S, while at Northwestern I got into the McCormick school of engineering.

I'm not exactly sure what I want to major in, but an extremely strong possibility is in mechanical engineering.
The question is, which school would be better for my situation -

Berkeley is ranked much higher in engineering, so the obvious answer would be UCB. However, I didn't apply directly to the school of engineering, just Letters and Sciences. Many students who want to switch into engineering can't do so due to the impacted nature of the college and competitiveness.

On the other hand, at Northwestern I can do the major in Mechanical engineering, but the school's program isn't as good as Berkeley's, or so I've been told.

Any suggestions?
