I'm in CoE and tryign to figure out which physics course to enroll in.

First off, I got a 5 in AP Physics B, and a 5 in AP BC Calculus. I'm taking Math 1920.

On the engineering site, it says that for Phsyics 1112, Mechanics, that a 5 on AP Physics B is credit for that course. Ok....Then it says the next course, Physics 2213 Heat/electromagnetism, needs a prereq of Physics 1112 (which I have credit for, as stated) and Math 1920 (which I will be taking).

Can I take Heat/electromagnetism if one of the prereq it requires is a class I'm taking at the same time?

I will repeat my answer once more. You will be fine unless they radically change the difficulty of the course. The only thing from 1920 in 2213 is line and surface integrals, and their main use is in gauss and amperes law. However the whole point of using those laws versus the laws with regular integrals is that you pick a path or surface where the field is equal at all points on said path or surface and so you just multiply the area of the surface or distance of the path by the field strength. Now for 2217 you would probably need 1920, but for 2213 you don’t.

Any they almost never actually check or enforce prerequisites for any course as far as I’m aware of, they definitely don’t for 2213 though.

Sorry maybe this is bit of a sidetrack. But is a potential engineering physics required to take 2217? The class gets filled up awful quickly and I didn’t get enrolled in as a freshman. But I have ap credits for 2213. Is it advisable to directly skip E&M? Thank you very much!

its not officially required but yeah you basically need to take it, further aep courses would be very difficult to take if you hadn’t taken 2217 according to my aep friend.
