Does anybody have any experience with the 3-1-1-1 program between Vassar and Dartmouth ? good program ? recommend it ?

Bump, I’m wondering the same thing

S1 considered doing this program but instead opted to get the BA undergrad from Vassar and continue on to get a Masters degree in engineering. He will be attending a top enigneering grad school next year. He decided that he was enjoying his Vassar experience and wanted to double major. It seemed more logical just to continue on for his Masters in the 5th year.

Many who consider the 3-2 or 3-1-1-1 programs don’t end up doing them.

I’m interested in this program too, but Dartmouth’s engineering program seems odd to me. They don’t have departments and take a very liberal arts approach to engineering. I don’t know if that’s effective or not. Secondly, financial aid doesn’t always carry over in these programs. As a student with a high FA need, I wouldn’t be able to attend without a generous grant.

foralaska, the fin aid for the first year is just Vassar funding you (which they will), and the second year is up to full tuition based on financial need, so it’s actually not bad
Does anyone know anyone who has actually gone through this program?
I have a kid who was considering the program from another LAC - I agree with the comment that most kids don’t wind up taking advantage of it.
The thing about these small LACs is the intimacy. The kids wind up identifying with their school and their class, and they want to be there for the whole experience. They want to graduate with their class … it’s important to a lot of kids, and I can’t blame them.
As was said, grad school.
nice program
