If one were to major in engineering science, would he/she be able to apply to grad school for physics?...and if so would he/she be at an admissions disadvantage to other students who majored in physics?

Grad school largely depends on what you want to study--its far more specialized than undergraduate.

Do you want to study Engineering Mechanics or Physics (condensed matter, etc)?

You might lack the courses and knowledge that most physics majors go through but as long as you do well at your respected university there is no reason for you to be at a disadvantage.

Thanks for your response

in grad school i'd like to study physics, probably condensed matter, and maybe get involved in nanotech research

but yeah, I do realize that I'll have to use most if not all of my science electives on physics classes to have a good background and do well on the GRE subject and whatnot...
