Engineering students with weird personalities.

I was reading about Cody Cousins, the Purdue EE student who murdered Andrew Boldt a couple weeks ago.

Basically what they were saying is that he "didn't like to be told he was wrong".

I read that a couple times and I immediately thought of many people in some of my classes. Some people can be very smart but extremely immature, tactless and emotionally unstable.

Last week I attended a Calculus III SI session and this kid struck me as very odd from the very beginning. He went out of his way to show everybody that he knew his stuff.

After about 10 minutes, he was sitting by himself because no one wanted to be around him.

I got so turned off by his personality that honestly, I can't picture this guy with a woman anytime soon.

I am still wondering why a person like this would be attending a SI session if he knows everything. Bizarre!

Oh, bschoolwiz. :expressionless:

I don’t know what an SI session is but maybe that person didn’t attend a higher level session beause then he’d only be average relative to the other students whereas if he were to be in a lower level, he’d be relatively more knowledgeable.

That’s a guess though.

You’ll find people like that in any field, not just science and engineering.

In job ads, a lot of companies will say things like, “No Know-It-Alls” because they can be so destructive to a team.
