Engineering to mathematics

Is it possible to get into an applied mathematics program in the US with an undergraduate degree in mechanical/electrical/computer engineering?

You might have some remedial courses to take but it should be possible.

So after my engineering degree in India, I take the GRE and apply to the courses that I want, right? Will the institute sign me up for the necessary remedial courses or will I have to see the ones I need?

If they accept you they will identify the courses you need to take and they probably will offer them. We do that at Illinois Tech in physics when we have engineering students apply.

Thanks a ton. Which engineering would you recommend as a major in undergrad (mechanical, electrical or computer) to help pursue a career in mathematics?

Probably Electrical is the best but you will have a lot of mathematics in any engineering.
