ENGINEERING: University of Southern California vs. Santa Clara University

I was accepted at University of Southern California (USC) and Santa Clara (SCU) as a transfer student studying Mechanical Engineering.

I am wondering on opinions from students etc on what they think from a student perspective (I couldn't care less about USNews rankings etc.). Fortunately the money difference is not an issue for me.

Does Santa Clara's engineering program even compare to USC Viterbi Engineering?

Both schools seem to have a good alumni network. Which do you think is better if I am aiming for a Engineering Job for the Bay Area?

What about money? Any merit aid? I think even though USC has higher rankings but Santa Clara has better connections in Silicon Valley from what I can tell. I have not met a single USC grad, but plenty of Santa Clara. There are more USC grads down in LA area.

@DrGoogle‌ Money is not an issue in my case as they are both coming down to the same cost after grants/merit aid. Thank you for your input!

Either should be fine. Logistically, it would be easier to get a job in Silicon Valley if you’re going to Santa Clara.

USC is a target for bulge bracket banks and some consulting firms (Bain I know for sure recruits at USC). If you don’t want to do engineering you may have more options.
