Hey Everyone,
I really want to apply to Tech’s engineering program. However, I’m disappointed with the courses I have taken, and would like to know if I have any chances of being admitted into this specific field. I took my SATs for the first time and got a composite score of 1960:
CR: 600
Math: 660
Writing: 700
I had never studied for the SATs, so my score is mediocre, but I’ve been preparing to take my SATs one more time on October 3rd. Ive been practicing and consistently getting low-mid 700 math, and mid-high 600 CR.
At my high school I have taken;
chemistry (A+)
biology (A+)
physics (A+)
Algebra I and II (A+)
Geometry (B)
Precalc (B+)
Also, in my other classes I have received primarily As and Bs, but I think it’s more important if I focus more on the sciences and math.
I’m taking Calc, stats, and Biology 101 at the community college near me, and taking Spanish 5, AP English, and History at my High School. I’m concerned with the calc i’m taking since it’s only 3 credits and waaay to easy for me. I couldn’t get into the higher calc since it was already full by the time I applied which I should have done sooner.
Also, should I take Math subject test II and physics or chemistry subject test II? I don’t know if I will get my scores soon enough to show them my strengths in those areas.
All in all, I have a weak transcript, so tell me honestly what my chances are. Would it be worth doing another semester at my community college to bulk up my transcript?
Thanks!
Also, if it helps I’m African American, and play two varsity sports including AAU basketball.
