So I know the college courses an engineer takes within the first 2 years of college, but am not sure of what classes a bioengineer takes for the last 2 years of college. How many more classes do I need to take as a bioengineer?
The colleges will have degree plans (or a sequence of courses) for every major listed on their website. For example, below is a link to Purdue’s suggested plan of study for every year (scroll down toward the bottom). When it lists something like “technical elective,” you can scroll up to see the choice of classes.

For the last two I don’t know what the degree plans are for the college you will be attending. But I do know that if your bioengineering program is EAC ABET accredit. The college will make you do two senior design course in your senior year. In some schools it might not be call senior design. Make sure your know what the prerequisites are to get in so you can guaranteed on time. It is usually four prerequisites you need to fulfill before getting into the class. One reason I don’t like EAC ABET accredited programs.
“So I know the college courses an engineer takes within the first 2 years of college…”
A bioengineer is an engineer, just like a Mechanical Engineer, a Civil Engineer, etc. is. You won’t take more classes than the others. You’ll just take different classes than the others. Each school’s curriculum map will be different.
Ok thank you all! In terms of difficulty, is it more time consuming than taking multivariable, physics, chemistry and bio in the same semester?
That’s a typical engineering semester. It’s all difficult. What you personally find more or less difficult will vary. Some find the super complex math classes actually less challenging, because they have such facility with mathematics. Others find more rote classes easier. So, your mileage may vary depending on what you like.
I’m doing well in my first semester and only have 1 B in English. As my first semester taking physics I love it. For math i placed in multivariable. Am I allowed to retake a class I didn’t fail?
You would need to ask your school that type of question but why would you want to? @eyemgh description was great… It’s all difficult… At some point it won’t be so easy for you but that’s OK. If you can maintain high grades great but I think the key is understanding and applying what you are learning.
