I hear a lot about the sciences at Stanford, but I haven't heard anything about theEnglish and History departments. Do a lot less people major in these subjects? Is Stanford mainly a school for the sciences?

Ditto the question.

yea..ive been wondering that. I think most people apply to stanford to major in math or science. Like, in our school, all the EA's were applying to major in science.

English and history are both popular majors at Stanford; both departments are highly regarded. There are 50 faculty members in history, and 170 undergraduates majoring in the subject.

Wow, that's an awesome 3.5:1 faculty ratio for history majors!

I too was wondering about the divide between "techies" and "fuzzies" (like me) at Stanford.
