Enjoying Mollie's MIT Blog

The MIT Blogs are so interesting to read!
The bloggers not only keeps us updated on what's going on at MIT, but also give us insights to life at MIT. Even though Ben's and Matt's blogs give important information regarding admission, my favorite blog right now has to be Mollie's! (Probably influenced by the fact that she posts here, which make her seem a more realistic/imaginable person (at least to me >.<)).
The more i read, the more i think i'll fit in MIT, the more i want to go to MIT, BUT! i have to get accepted first, which MIGHT be a HUGE problem.

I really like reading people's blogs, even if i don't know them well. Sometimes I meet someone new, I would read through all their xanga entries. or a lot of them at least. That may seem stalker-ish but people's life are really interesting! So i am reading through a lot of blog entries on MIT. Mollie, thank you so much for the blogs! they are so funny.

One bad thing right now is that a lot of the link don't work anymore. =(

some highlights/ my comments XP

-sleep statistics! :http://web.mit.edu/mollieb/Public/Sleep%20Statistics.pdf
definitely interesting. what's scary is that you probably get more average sleep than people from my high school right now.
but great to know people can still get sufficient sleep at MIT!

-organizing crayons by color
i did that too!!!I put all the neon colors and other "special" ones like the ones that shows up on dark colored paper etc in a different box!

-"How to do everything wrong and still get into MIT"
gave me a bit more hope!
you applied because ex-boyfriend didn't get in? o.O I am applying BECAUSE my boyfriend(know him through math and robotics, except he is too smart) got in but more because i want to go. He is just being very supportive and motivating me, and telling me that i have a chance (always wanted to go to MIT, but before was like " not gonna bother applying cuz i am not gonna get in, i'll just go to some UCs"). =| crosses finger for lucky around December and March
your story is really amazing! what do you think really made the difference in your application that "got you in"? passion in essays?
-the AP classes you took are exactly the ones i am NOT taking from my school >.< odd

-"there's a Starbucks in the Stata Center"
woot! we got all our robotics seniors(1 MIT, rest Berkeley) Starbucks giftcards for graduation. now i know they can use it? I wasn't sure if there is one in MIT, but pretty sure there are lots around Berkeley.

The stats lesson i totally agree with!(took AP stats this year with an AMAZING teacher who wrote the AP test)
probability is only a probability(used for perdiction and sampling and simulations). NOT the actual outcome!! you can't 20% or 40% or x% get into MIT(or any other college, for that matters),either you are in or you are out (1 or zero!xP)

i am still reading >.<

Even though I don't attend MIT, I agree that Mollie's blog was one of the best on there. Brian's blog is also an interesting read.

Aww, thanks! You're making me blush. :)

If you find a link that doesn't work, please either post here or PM me to let me know. The blogs were moved to a different server last fall, and after I fixed all the links, some of the locations of pages were changed again -- but I don't know which ones don't work. I can log in and fix them, though, so totally let me know if stuff doesn't work.

And I have no idea what the "tip" factor for my application was -- I don't even remember what I wrote, it was so long ago. :) I'm old now!

Stop that. Stop that right now. You're making the rest of us feel like we should be on Social Security.

I love reading them too! I wish all schools had student blogs.
