What did you guys get?

I got 8/30 at 3:20 PM. :(

Enrollment begins on the 29th for freshmen so i think that’s a pretty good time. mine is on the 31st so mine is more =(

On that note, can someone explain what the first pass and second pass enrollment processes are? I know this process began recently (may 2012) but does it apply to incoming students?

The two pass enrollment system does not apply to incoming students. If it does, you should have two enrollment times. :D

What happens is, in a nutshell, you enroll for classes twice. During first pass, you can enroll for a max of 11.5 units. During the second pass, you can enroll to a maximum of 19.5 units. The point of two pass enrollment is to give people with less units a shot at enrolling in classes that are usually heavily waitlisted. There’s a bit more info on it here: http://registrar.ucsd.edu/studentlink/Newsletter_Mar_2012.pdf

Ah…that makes sense. And thanks for answering my questions momsky. Very helpful =D

If August 29th is the first day for signing up for classes, then August 29th isn’t that bad. I thought it was towards the end.

How did you guys get your appointment times already? I thought they came out August 6!

Log into Tritonlink > Classes & Enrollment > Webreg > Submit > Enrollment Appointment Times

How many registration times are there in a day?

I got 8/31 :o

not sure how many there are per day but I think it’s every 15 minutes from 8 am to 10 pm at night… somebody check me on that. so that comes out to 4 * 14 = 56 passes per day I think? mon-friday only I believe. I don’t know how many students get assigned at each 15-minute interval but as you go through college you’ll learn how to manage with what you’re given. I wouldn’t worry too much about enrollment, especially because the 2-pass system now puts you (freshmen or other low-unit students) at an advantage compared to before. you guys are pretty lucky. all in all I find web enrollment at UCSD to be really straightforward, user-friendly, effective and fair. I’ve never had a problem getting classes I needed (not always the ideal time/instructor, but can’t complain) and now that i’m a third year, it’s even more favorable.

i got 8/28 at 7:10am I’m a transfer though so i got 2nd day… lets hope their are classes left :(

Aw yeah 8/29 10 AM. I might actually get all the classes I want!

I got 8/30 at 8:40 am! I truly thought I would get a later enrollment time.

This could be a stupid question but what’s the point of different enrollment app times? to prevent server from crashing?

@chain

do you mean the two pass system or just the whole thing in general?
There are different enrollment times so people with more units get priority over people with less units. A kind of seniority thing. However, there are two passes now because they don’t want people with little to no units to completely not get their core classes at all.

I don’t know about transfer students, but for incoming freshmen your enrollment time is luck of the draw with no basis on seniority. Maybe it is to keep the site from crashing, to get you familiar with the system, or to keep spots from going to the person with the fastest internet connection :)

It’s not based on units for us, since my friend, who has more units than I do, has a later enrollment time than me.

Fall for freshmen is lottery.
In Winter and latter, they start to count our credits.
It will be based on units in two passes.
So in Fall it is better to have as much classes as possible, to get better reg time in Winter.

wow … I only have 12 units since I have taken 2 AP’s in high school.

I am Freshy and come with 56.5 units.

Registration for Winter:
Priority - OASIS, sports, regents and chancellors students.
Seniors > 135 units
Juniors > 90 units
Soph > 45 units
Fresh - 0 - 44 units
