when universities ask for enrollment deposits to new students what do they do if the student does not turn in his deposit on time....

for example, if deadline is may1, and another school cant make a decision for you till a week after may...so you wait. What action will the other school take?

If you do not submit the enrollment deposit on time by the date that the college specifies, they are under no obligation to hold your spot in the school. They have every right to take away the offer of acceptance and the financial package. You can call them ahead of time and see if they can grant you an extension but they are under no obligation to do so. It is worth asking them directly via a phone call.
