Does anyone know the enrollment numbers for the class of 2012? Applicants, percent admitted, SAT scores, etc.

I found this on the Maryland website.

Historic High Number of Applications Received for Fall 2008

This year we have received a record number of applications, over 27,000, for freshman admission for the fall 2008 semester. We are proud of the interest that Maryland is garnering from some of the nation's most talented students. We anticipate enrolling a freshman class of 4050, nearly 200 students fewer than last year's class. The combination of having over 27,000 applications and a reduced freshman enrollment will result in a smaller percentage of students being offered admission this year than in previous years. We will continue to offer spring admission to a number of talented students who we are unable to accommodate in the fall semester. As in previous years, students admittted in the spring will be able to begin their studies in the fall through the Office of Extended Studies in the Freshmen Connection program.

If the freshman class is 4050 for the fall of 2008 then how is there be a total undergraduate population of 25,000+?

Incoming
4050 Class of 2012
~4200 -- 2011
~4200 -- 2010
~4200 -- 2009
About 16,650
+ about 2,000 transfers per year
~24,000-25,000 Total students.

Counting transfers that totals 18650 undergrads. That is still 6000+ short of 25000. What accounts for the descrepancy of 6000+?

2,000 transfers per year * 4 = 8,000 more students

4050 + 4200 + 4200 + 4200 + 8000 = ~24,650 students

You also need to remember part time and night time students add into the graduation class.
