Hi there, I just got my financial aid package from Davis, got the Entering UG Scholarship - NH, and I had a couple of questions about it. I was wondering if anyone knows whether the Entering UG Scholarship is renewable for all 4 years, or applicable only freshman year. Also, is it awarded based on need or based on merit? Also, what does the NH stand for?

Thanks!

NH stands for one of the Halls (buildings) where Financial was first computerized… or something like that. Can’t recall what N stands for… read it somewhere.

And Like you… wondering if UG scholarship is available for all four years.

Well if it helps answer any of the questions, it’s definitely not needs based. I got one as well, and I would not qualify for needs based, but would definitely qualify for merit-based depending on the reasoning (i.e. extracurriculars or leadership roles and involvement)

same question as well. My d has been at ucsd for 3 years with fin. aid and I have never seen the ug freshman scholarship for $4,200. What is this and is it for 4 years? Is it merit based? Do all freshman get this?

yea, i got it too. I am need based though, and according to this [Types of Undergraduate Scholarships](Undergraduate Scholarship Funds) that’s what its based off of

Is this for freshman year only? Is this merit based?

i emailed them asking about the following years and this was the response…
“The entering undergraduate scholarship is only for the first year.
But if you file the 2012-13 FAFSA by March 2nd 2012, you will be awarded the university grant instead.
Thank you
Cheikh”

will the university grant be around the same amount as the UG scholarship that’s only for the first year? also will the university grant be merit-based or need-based or both?

Anyone have any answers??
