I'm very interested in becoming an entrepreneur when i grow up but i need some advice. What college path would i have to take? Would i have to apply to a entrepreneur school or a school that offers a entrepreneur major (such as Babson) or could i just apply to a general business school with an undergraduate program (such as NYU, UPENN, UMich). Thanks a lot.

Wharton has an entrepreneurship concentration but it can only be your second concentration (not your main).

a lot of people from Cornell's Hotel School become entrepreneurs because once you know how to run a hotel or restaurant, opening and running your own business is the same deal.

I think you can concentrate in a field in Cornell's Hotel School (is that right?). Like its not just hotel management, there's finance, entrepreneurship, etc. Correct me if I'm mistaken.

yeah you can, I actually mention that in the thread I just started on trying to decide on where to go

if you want to be a really successful entrepreneur, don't go to college...come on now if you got an idea (i.e. a dot com company / w.e.) go with it, more than half the stuff you learn in college you do not use in the real world because what u do in the classroom is nothing like when your actually dealing with clients and making decisions...

thanks for the advice raj but i would rather go to college

the hotel school is great that way cuz so many of the classes are operations classes where you learn how to really run a business (in this case, a hotel). sure, you have your lectures and classes in the classroom but you've also got mandatory work hours, practical classes, and many other choices to get yourself working, and thinking about your own company, right away.

bump........
