Entrepreneurship and startups

I want to get involved on the business side of tech startups and am wondering if CMC is good for that field?

I don't have a real answer for you, but I though I'd go ahead and tell you that Ashwin Navin (sp?), founder of BitTorrent, graduated from CMC. you might already know, as it's posted right up on CMC's wikipedia entry. if not, there you go.

There's a CMC Networking Trip to Silicon Valley every year. Contact the Career Dept. about it and they can tell you more about it.

Without a tech background exactly what exactly do you think that you would bring to the party with just a degree from CMC? Try MIT (will be able to a "double major" next year and study science or engineering as well as doing econ etc at Sloan; they are dropping the more onerous requirements of the present dual degree program); STANFORD (also good in both); UPENN has a specific Management and Technology program. CMC/HMC offer a joint degree mgt engineering program (this one is five years).

I would probably major in econ and minor in cs and then try to get involved on the business side of a tech startup.

Sounds like a plan. Good luck.
