My daughter has been in a wheelchair for three years and is looking for a college in a warm climate (we’re in the northeast). She has attended the Camp for Courageous Kids in KY for the last three years where a number of the counselors have been Centre students–all extremely impressive kids. Kind of a funny question, but because being in a chair can be weirdly isolating socially I’m curious about the tone of inclusion, kindness, overall hospitality at Centre for kids who are different. She’s a very social, comfortable-in-her-own skin kid but she has already experienced the new, not-always-great social oddness of being in a chair. Can someone help me dig a little deeper into the culture of Centre?
The hospitality and kindness won my daughter over, but I can’t speak specifically to your daughter’s situation. Is there a chance to visit?
