Environmental Conversation program question

DD is not 110% on the conversation program for environmental science. She already will have AP credit for ES from high school, and will be able to exempt the first year English general education requirement with AP exams. So of the three classes, only one, the religion one, counts towards her general Ed requirements. The other two classes in this conversation program are redundant gen Ed credits.

Of all the conversations, it’s the only one that is offered for first years that looks interesting.

I think EC is a new conversation, and am wondering if this might be boring for a kid who’s taken AP ES. The main environmental studies class is an introductory one and not science-y

According to admissions, only 25% of students participate in the conversations program.

Secondly, can she apply, and if admitted to it, decide to NOT do it? Or is this a firm commitment?
