I am debating between Environmental Science or Environmental Geosciences and am curious whether anyone has any input as to which major might better prepare me and give me the preparation to get a career to help the environment. I am not sure what I want my career to be, I just want it to aid the environment in some way. :) Hopefully this is answerable, but thanks for ~any~ tips.

I can only speak for the UK, but here Environmental Geoscience is an Earth science which is mostly Geology but with particular attention to the interaction between the Earth sciences and human activity. Environmental Science has very little science in it and is more akin to Geography. I assume it’s the same in the US?

I am a teacher in Southern California and recently a mine gave us a free field trip to see there mine. Once we got there the reason they said they were given us the field trip was to convince kids to go into the Geo Sciences because we (the US) are so desperate for Geo Scientists. They said they need to go to China to get Geo Scientists. So I would imagine Enviro Geo would be the way to go. FYI the company’s name was Moly Corp. if you are interested in contacting them.

You have to check the curriculum for the specific program and see exactly what coursework is required for each degree, since some identically named degrees can have a very different focus.
