Environmental Studies and Bio-Engineering - Is it ever really boring there?

I want to major in Environmental Studies and I've heard that Cornell is really good in that and I've done a bit of research into the program but I have questions on how it compare to other schools. Is anybody a student in the program? What are the study and research opportunities? Who eco friendly and sustainability oriented is the school and student body?

What if I wanted to switch to Bio-medical engineering, would that put me at a disadvantage compared to the Columbia program?

And do you guys ever get really really bored there??
