So, I just joined envirothon and I would like to know a bit more about it. Has anyone else done this before? If so would you describe the experience as beneficial? Also, what information should you focus on within your topics for the regionals?. Thanx in advance.

What is an envirothon, just out of curiosity? I've never heard of one before.

An environmental science competition.

I am! except I've just joined this year

BOMP CUZ.

God, International's last year was a blast and a wreck all at once, flying to NY from VA. >.> We placed sixth (out of fifty-something)! Happy, happy, especially considering that it was our school's first year in competition, period, since the previous team coach left four years earlier.

This year's Flagstaff, AZ, IIRC, but I dunno if we'll make it to Internationals (US + Canada) again. Still, with $1,400 per person on our team for sixth place, I'm fine with all that's happened. Besides, I now know how to identify all sorts of hydric soils, a few trees, a lot of fish, and some animal poo, and have designed a three page plan with my team on building a fully green facility that manages to feed money back to the power grid in a wetland with a forest, a stream, a hill, and migratory birds, taking into consideration regulations and laws and a crapload of other stuff after ruminating and arguing in a hot, stuffy room for nine hours, AND scoring high with the judges with said plan. Wind power wasn't involved at my behest.^^

Yeah I didn't go to enough club meetings (missed two) so I miss the competition.

Aww...

I might have been able to meet you in person if you did. :(

Hey I do this! Envirothon is great. My school had two teams, and our senior team is going to nationals and my team got fourth. =[. we got cut off presenting again by 3 points.

I'm looking into getting an Envirothon team started at my school, but I'm not sure how it works. The registration is due in March, and after the registration deadline, the study guides are released and training courses become available.

So what do you do to prepare during the school year, before March, if anything?

In my state, regionals are in late febuary early March, so we study for that.
