Error UPenn Self Report

Hello, so this has been on my mind for quite some time, and two weeks before the November 1st deadline for Questbridge schools, in this case, UPenn, I realized I accidentally misreported my ACT Reading Score as a 35 instead of the 34 it was (I confused the order of the form while looking at my actual score report where my English was a 35).

I have emailed UPenn to both its undergraduate admissions email, the “applicants” email which they said to email if they see a mistake, and have not received ANY response whatsoever regarding the matter. I have called them multiple times, only to get the response of “Email them again and wait”.

Before November 1st, I was pretty fed up and submitted an explanation of my case, my attempts to email UPenn the correct the mistake, and that it was an honest mistake (I have uploaded my actual ACT score reports).

However, it still says on my Portal that my Reading subscore is a 35…and I can’t help but think when the decision comes around and if I “DO” (hypothetically, of course, not saying that it’s likely or it’s unlikely,) and they ask for official scores, I might have my offer rescinded despite attempting to contact them, submitting an additional information explanation letter, and etc.

Does anyone have any advice on the matter? I felt like UPenn was not being helpful at all with this case.

You did what you were supposed to do, so I think things will be ok. It is not surprising that you haven’t received a response. Just keep a record of the email you sent.

Don’t waste any more energy on this. Good luck as the process unfolds.

@Mwfan1921 Thank you very much for the words of relief. You don’t think this might be grounds for an offer being rescinded right since I’ve made so much effort to contact them?

No, I think there is virtually no risk of being rescinded if you are admitted…You contacted them in the manner their directions state when correcting an error. Admissions staff are busy right now, so I wouldn’t expect a return email. I do hope your portal is updated eventually…continue to watch for that. But again, I would not worry.

@HKimPOSSIBLE , the admissions offices everywhere are swamped with work. It is not surprising you have not received a response.

I’m in the middle of the process now with my oldest child and I see several university portals for universities were we applied to weeks ago that say something like “HS Transcript missing” or “payment not received”. I’ve emailed three in particular regarding “missing” items that should not be listed as missing. Two responded saying they have seen the application (or the digital version, thereof) and they verify nothing is missing. It’s been days since those verifications, yet the portals continue to list the applications as incomplete.

You’ve done the right thing. There’s nothing else you can do about it. Now, go outside and throw a frisbee.
