Hey guys, so I just found out I had a mind blowingly stupid mistake on my common app essay. I put "life-saving DISEASES" as in the diseases SAVE LIVES! I just want to smack myself silly. And I basically turned it in for five ivy league schools so I just wasted about $400 to be rejected. Is there ANYTHING I can do to revise it? Because I'm pretty sure they will look at that and think I am retarded. I meant to say life-saving "medicine" which was in the same sentence, but my stupid mind switched it. Anyways, I don't know what to do so if someone could help me out, that'd be nice.

This literally happens to almost everyone. I know it seems like the end of the world but just breathe. As long as its obvious what you meant to say in the context of the sentence, it should be fine. If you really want to correct it though, you could try emailing the individual schools, but they may or may not accept it.

If it didn’t seriously interfere with the meaning, and if the essay was otherwise really good, it shouldn’t be a problem. If they enjoyed reading it they aren’t going to reject you for a mistake at the end. Good luck! :)
