Essays from an average yet accepted student

I was accepted to Tufts RD, not because of stellar scores (I got a 2180 and a 32) or EC's (I play XBOX and eat cheetos), so I think my essays helped a lot. When I was doing college apps, I wish someone would have shown me essays that got people like me into good schools, so here I go:

Essay: The human narrative is replete with memorable characters like America's Paul Revere, ancient Greece's Perseus, or the Fox Spirits of East Asia. Imagine one of humanity's storied figures is alive and working in the world today. Why does Rapunzel work at Saks? Would Shiva be a general or a diplomat? Is Quetzalcoatl trapped in a zoo? In short, connect your chosen figure to the contemporary world and imagine the life he/she/it might lead.

Amadeus: The One Hit Wonder
If Mozart were alive today he would work as a busboy at Chili's in Los Angeles. The classical music scene, long ago washed away in the world of contemporary music, would be no place for a man such as Mozart today. Mozart, if reborn in 1957 to a working class family, would have tried to pick up where he left off with his composing career, yet would have had difficulty finding an audience. After years of trying to make it in the music business, Mozart would have gotten tired of his mother constantly pushing him to go get a real job. She always tells him that she's embarassed when the other mothers talk of their lawyers and doctors and she has to tell them about how her son is a struggling musician. He eventually quits performing around town in empty bars and restaurants and applies for a job as a security guard at a movie studio in Los Angeles. He thinks that if he can move out to the big city he might actually have a chance to make it big. Against all odds he lands the job and makes $15.50 an hour. In futility Mozart spends the next five years of his life. Then one day in 1982 a movie executive pitches the script he wrote of "Amadeus". The studio is so impressed that they immediately begin casting. Mozart impresses the casting director with his superb piano skills and gets the lead role! When the movie hits the big screen it becomes a huge success. Critics and fans alike praise the movie and Mozart's genius portrayal of the protagonist. Suddenly Mozart gets movie offers from all over the world of Hollywood. Unfortunately he seems unable to play other characters as well as the one in "Amadeus". His new movies are major duds in the box office and he can't seem to reclaim his glory. Worst of all, his big new mansion in Beverly Hills gets foreclosed because of his trouble finding any work. Eventually Mozart has to come to terms with his desolate future and begins applying for menial, low-paying jobs. He isn't qualified to do much in the business world and so only one company offers him a job: Chili's. Broke, desperate and out-of-luck, Mozart accepts the job offer and begins his job as a busboy, only wishing to regain his former glory.

Hope this helps!
