Hi, currently I’m working on college essays, and I wrote one a while back about piano (I’ve been playing for a while) and I wanted to write one that was less common, but none of the other ones I have written are as good as the piano one. Is writing about piano too cliche? I also have nothing else about me that screams piano (no community service, not a major interest, no school involvement, etc.)

Whether or not it’s cliché depends on what you write. I will tell you that in the 2 or 3 months I’ve been reading essays here, yours would be the 4th or 5th on piano. That doesn’t make it wrong, it simply makes it much harder for yours to be memorable.
