did anyone else write two funny essays?

like...humorous?

yes

light & humorous

one of mine was kinda funny I guess...

One of mine was funny (at least I thought so). I wrote about this government related program I was admitted to. It was basically a role-playing simulation, and all the candidates had to pick "roles." My essay was about the fact that I wanted to be a councilmember, journalist, etc. I ended up being the owner of a pornagraphic bookstore whose goal was to seek a zoning variance for a massage parlour. (Keep in mind that this program is fairly selective and is not run by nuts!) I know that this sounds like a weird essay topic, but I feel like I was able to talk about some pretty serious, meaningful things with this humorous topic as a "jumping-off" point. Anyway, I think sometimes a more lighthearted essay stands out to an admissions officer. All of my friends applying to the ivies wrote about really serious, sometimes depressing, topics, and while I don't think that there is anything wrong with that, I think that if you show a sense of humor in your essay, it might make you stand out a bit more.

on one of mine I talked about how I could've cursed the gods but decided not to . . . (Oddyseus reference here) . . .
