Ethnicity on the Application

I’m Chinese, so would it hurt if I checked the Chinese box under ethnicity, or should I just leave it unchecked?

I'd say just check it unless you're name is like James Smith or something.

Leave it unchecked. Unless you're international, being Asian or Indian usually hurts.

I'm Chinese and I checked the box, I mean, your name pretty much gives it away anyways.

Can they prove if youre lying anyways?

Most of the time it's pretty obvious if you're Asian regardless, but I don't think they have a way of finding out if you're lying. Unless you're native american or something. :)

Usually your interview will give it away.

So will your name as mentioned above.

Just check it...its hard to deny ethnicity. I checked Chinese and I got in! Your grades speak louder than than one checked box

I'm partially Argentine but I don't really identify with that at all. Does coming from a non-poor hispanic country help at all?

yes it helps

i would check the box. why feel bad about ur race.

Well, I don't feel bad. But I don't particularly look Hispanic nor do I mention it at all in my essays. While on the other hand I'm Turkish as well, and touch base on it a couple times. Too bad Turkish isn't an URM. Maybe if I were an Armenian Turk...I just wouldn't want them to think I'm lying or anything. And it's not like Argentina has faced anywhere near the hardship that Nicaragua has and is hurting for a foot in the door.

i checked that im white

i got in lol

youll be fine. dont worry about it. i suggest checking it. you should be proud of ur race

idk if i checked that i'm white. i'll check white every time, but i always put "choose not to respond" if it says caucasian. I'm white, but i'm not caucasian. which one does penn ask for?

it asked for caucasian; sorry about that

but i totally checked caucasian.
i love caucasia.

haha, caucasia's a pretty nice place, i guess

i wonder where that word came from anyway....

caucasus....aka (siberia?)

i loathe political correctness

it's not supposed to be regional, it's supposed to be about bone structure shared by white people, "caucasians", but give me a break

couldn't have been kosher

actually comes from the caucasus mt range, where the aryan people originated. they were known for their white skin.

Where, according to an extremely questioned semi-fascist and apartheid theory, the aryan people originated.
