The best way to get around this is independent Study Abroad at a foreign University.
This way you enroll at the foreign University and take the same classes as the University’s students.
This can be difficult in Italy ( or any non English speaking country) unless you are fluent enough in Italian.
To overcome this many US Universities have opened up Study Centers in Italy and some Italian Universities have set up programs for foreign English speaking “US” Students (this sounds like what your daughter chose) to take advantage of the demand of US students wanting to study in Italy from schools that don’t have programs there.
I would say you can choose bt France and Germany. As they have the best study programs and their tuition is less as compared to other European countries. For more info related to study in Europe, you can visit many other consulting websites where you can get all the important info.
Is there a disadvantage to studying abroad in the spring semester vs the fall? My D already studied for a month during a May session in a study center and was thinking of spending a semester at a real U. For example, Glasgow, Edinburgh or Cardiff - do new classes start in the spring like here.
