Even as a former Yooper

Good idea to call them and get a head start! @momo2x2018 We went to a reception in NY last year around 2/3 and then another on March 24th (they were similar, but we did get to meet different people.) And another reception for incoming students in July sometime.

Once you start getting emails throughout this semester, they will provide many links which include admitted student links (how to register for overnight, etc), OWeek, Family Weekend, etc.

There is a book due in April that I have preordered…
“We made Uranium! and other extraordinary stories from the Univ of Chicago’s Scavenger hunt” by Leila Sales

If the rads at BJ should fail there’s a backup - a large fireplace in what was in my day the BJ Library (large room on second floor opposite the west entrance to the dining hall). In addition to books and a fireplace that room also had a grand piano and lots of comfortable leather couches. (It was where we hosted Milton Friedman once.) As for fuel - there must be a busted chair or two around, a few unloved books, some discarded drafts of term papers.

"In addition to books and a fireplace that room also had a grand piano and lots of comfortable leather couches. "

Not just a piano - a pretty sweet Steinway.

I think that fireplace is still used (unlike the ones in Snitch . . .).

I hope they keep BJ forever. So glad they renovated the bathrooms and re-did the courtyard. Not only is it a beautiful dorm, but it demonstrates a real commitment to keep it going even with Woodlawn going up on the next block.
