i agree with idamayer. some people are like 2300= community college. i don't know what they were thinking.

"Let's put it this way: I'm an Honors Student, Class President, and Editor-in-Chief. And I'm pretty sure I'd be rejected from Clown College."

I'm the exact same way. I'm in 2 AP classes and some are like "...take more if you even want to have a chance at Rutgers. And give up on all the other schools."

I just got an invitation from TCNJ for being and "Academic Achiever" so while all the Princeton applicants are applying there, I like to imagine that the email says I still have a chance...

The "Tufts is an ivy league reject school" is definitely amplified on this forum.

Most definitely, and I personally think it's considerably underrated [though please let's not turn this into a Tufts bashing thread]

CC makes me feel like a failure for not being at one of the letters in HYPS. :(

before i looked at CC i thought i would get into one ivyesque school. i still think i can do it, but the competition looks stiffer than you would imagine. are there some weak students who make up stats to freak the rest of us out?

What are you talking about, Berkeley is an incredible school, you're definitely not a failure, people would kill to be in your spot, be proud of your accomplishment.

^Same here Cardinal.

Seriously what is it with all the Tufts-bashing threads??????

That's another way CC distorts reality

Tufts=failure in the CC world

I do feel a little intimidated by the uber-impressive stats of everybody else, but I did get some outstanding advice from parents and students alike. I learn and still learn at CC.

"What are you talking about, Berkeley is an incredible school, you're definitely not a failure, people would kill to be in your spot, be proud of your accomplishment."

haha yeah thanks...Its just the HYPS HYPS HYPS mentality here on CC makes it seem like those are the only acceptable universities to attend for undergrad. Not to mention, the endless Berkeley bashing that goes on the berkeley board and other forums.

Any form of bashing is merely a form of jealously, so definitely don't pay any attention to them. And the whole HYPS mentality is rather ridiculous, you should go where you want to go, not where the world wants you to go.

The mods should put a censor on the acronym HYPS.

lol, too true, as well as HYPSM.

What IS HYPS/HYPSM? I see that all the time, and I don't know what it means.

Yeah, my first post was "let's see how i'm doing" thread, and the results were harsh. I think in all the "chances" threads, I never saw one "good job, you'll get into all the schools" remark.

HYPS= harvard yale princeton stanford

HYPSM= harvard yale princeton stanford and most likely MIT

Only on CC would people go "that's a bad ivy".

^ Oh man, so true. so true.

Tufts bashing huh? lol, Tufts is like a low reach for me. I'm such an underachiever.

I'm just glad I know that I have no way of making it into any ivies. I wish that others could get past that fact too. It sometimes seems like ivies is all there is, and anything below it isn't even worth it. I'm not posting my stats here until I retake the SAT because I know that they aren't that bad, but since it's under 2000, no one here thinks it will count for anything...

basically on this site, people think that anything below a 'top 10' school is a terrible school, and just as bad, a large percentage think that a LAC education is a waste.
