Exchange Student + Transportation to Raleigh

Hi there,

My name is Omar, I am from Brazil, an next August I'll be starting a year long exchange program at UNC. I am here because I would like to contact current students to know a bit more of UNC and get some tips and advices on what to do, what NOT to do, the nice places to visit, and all that.

I also would like to know how difficult it is going to Raleigh from UNC Campus and then back. Is there a decent public transportation service? or a rent-a-car near the campus for any emergency?

Thanks in advance for any reply

Best regards from Brazil

Omar .

Boa tarde Omar.
Are you worried about getting to the airport or just generally visiting Raleigh itself?
There is a facebook page for Brasillians in the Triangle.

Public transportation is excellent.

If you are wanting to go to Raleigh regularly, you will almost certainly need to drive. There are buses between Chapel Hill and Raleigh, but I think they stop fairly early in the evening. They certainly wouldn’t do for a night out.

There is a rentacar near campus. There is also zipcar.

I posted an answer yesterday but I think I sent a private message to Thp2017 instead.

I would visit Raleigh just for tourism, visiting places , attending to concerts and events. I found a bus schedule and saw that buses stop running at around 7pm.

I also contacted that facebook page but they didn’t answered me yet.

Thanks for the help
