Expected Family Contribution

I am an international student. PLease help me to fill the financial aid form. please
If the annual income that my family earns is $70,000. But there are five members dependent on that income , and one of my family member is patient of heart disease. So, the medical expenditure of my family is high. If i mention that my EFC would be $5000. would that amount be sufficient or i should say more? i don't have any idea regarding this estimation of EFC.

What is the form you are filling out?

If you are completing the Profile, just list your in one and assets as required on the form. There is a place for additional comments. You can put the medical expense explanation there.

Medical expenses are considered a “special circumstance”. You might want to contact the college to see how it deals with theses types of expenses. The college (s) will tell you. Their procedure will likely require you to document all unreimbursed medical expenses, and the necessity for them at some point. Don’t do that yet…but be prepared to do so.

Re: your estimated contribution. Put any number you choose. The colleges compute the family contribution themselves. No one is really sure why this question is even asked.

Are you applying early decision to some school?

@thumper1 thank you. No, i am not applying early decision.
