My son was accepted to Bowdoin. He currently is attending an extremely diverse high school and has friends of different races and religions. He has some concerns about the lack of diversity at Bowdoin although Bowdoin has tried the rectify the situation in its recent classes. In the social life thread, some students mention that cliques can form. Do minorities tend to stay together or do Asians, African-Americans, and Latino interact with the rest of the college community? Do students of different races get along? Have there been any recent racial incidents?

Asians integrate well. For the other races its really up to them. I’m friends with a lot of African-Americans and Latinos but I’m aware of a lot of others who are very cliquey and tend to only hang out with people of their own race.
