I do think the social dynamics of law school have changed as well. For a long time it was the default option for college kids unsure of other plans, so it was quite similar to college, socially. Now that most enrolled students are 26-29, I don’t think it has quite the same collegiate atmosphere it once did.
Think of it like relationships. If it is really his calling, he’ll find a way to make it work, even with a delay of a couple of years. And if he finds something he likes better — it is his life, not yours.
