Extended High School to 5 Years

Hi,

I'm currently a homeschooled junior in high school. I attended public school during my preschool & k-8 years. Sophomore year, my parents enrolled me into a private homeschool program (fully accredited) and I've been enrolled ever since. It has a flexible curriculum & is 100% offline. My parents decided to extend my program for an extra year, totaling 5 years of high school. While I don't mind, I'm worried this may affect my chances of getting into colleges/universities... Though I intend on becoming above average throughout this coming school year, I consider myself an average student with A's & B's. I'm 18 years old and therefore won't graduate until I'm 19. ((Mind you I've never repeated a grade, just had stretched out school years.))

Should I be concerned; Will colleges look down upon this?

Thanks in advance, I appreciate your input. x

Why did your parents enroll you for an extra year?
Your 5th year could be considered a “PG” year but it should be used mostly for AP/Dual Enrollment classes, or raising your academic profile.

Just for that reason—to raise my academic profile & overall, give me the best possible education I can receive. As I’ve noted, I’m only an average student though I’m hoping this year will be of benefit to me. However I’m not sure I can actually consider it a PG year. My complete high school education will have taken 5 years, but I’m only doing the initial four, with each year being one quarter longer than usual.

My advice would be to finish on time. That would probably give you a better chance at admissions.
