EXTENSION SCHOOL?!

does anyone know if harvard extension school credits transfer easily? Do a lot of good universities accept them? I know Harvard doesn't accept them but I was wondering if any other great schools accepted them?

MIT does not allow cross-registration with Harvard Extension School, so I doubt they would accept transfer credits. Yale also does not accept transfer credits from HES.

Many selective colleges will not accept transfer credits from another college unless the course has been pre-approved in advance. For example, if you take a summer course at Harvard, Yale will not accept those transfer credits unless you get them pre-approved in advance by your dean and the registrar. Bottom line: you need to individually check with each college to see how they would deal with the Harvard Extension School course credits.

Actually, that’s not true. If you enroll for a course at Harvard Summer School, which is run by Harvard’s Extension School, Harvard College will accept those credits. My daughter, for example, took a 4-credit course during Harvard’s Summer School for High School Students run by the Extension School, and then when she was accepted to the college, those summer credits automatically transferred over to her transcript – and the grade she received for the summer course is averaged into her overall GPA.

You may want to go to extensionstudent.com and ask there. There don’t seem to be many extension students on this board. (Though most of the students there are specifically going for one of the programs offered by HES rather than trying to transfer, but no harm in giving it a shot.)

lol I took classes at extension which in my personal opinion is harder than classes at the undergraduate institution that I went to…and the classes were transferable. That’s the main reason why I was able to graduate in 1 and half years. I went to a CC for 2 years…while taking several HES courses at the same time, then I transferred . I graduated from Northeastern University btw. A legit top 40-50 school.
