And planning on volunteering around 10 hours a month. Honestly, any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. It is my dream to attend this school. Also, do you believe I am decent in the EC department?
Deep breath, please. And now take another deep breath.
Please think about this carefully. You have listed an amazing array of accomplishments and interests that reflect dedication and perseverance. Don’t just blithely reduce this to whether you are “decent in the EC department.” This is your life and how you are choosing to live it. Does it make you happy? Are you learning new things? Are you becoming the person you want to be? If so, keep rocking it.
But don’t fall into the trap of thinking that you are only “one extracurricular away” from becoming the perfect admissions candidate. You can’t win that game. Admission to selective schools has a lot to do with you, but it also has quite a lot to do with a much bigger picture. Schools endeavor to create a harmonious blend of different notes. The same note over and over would be boring. So what can you do, other than to be yourself and do what gives you joy and helps you grow as a person?
I agree with @Kthor626 completely… You should be doing EC’s that you enjoy and are passionate about… Besides there is no point in adding in extra EC just for application… the AO’s have seen it all and will see through it…Honestly though, I think you have great EC’s and are definitely in the running… Good Luck :-bd
I agree with @Center. I think it is better to excel in a certain few extracurriculars than to participate in them all. Also the admissions officers will probably see through this.
