thanks thats really great advice…i never thought of it that way ! =]

^ Your SAT is well within range for Harvard.

I know of 4 admitted students from 6 that applied. (Not from my school, people I know.)

1 SAT Score 2210 Well Rounded Amazing essays Hooks: First Gen- Accepted

2 SAT Score 2160 Unhooked EXCELLENT Ec’s primarily research, did not do intel or siemens but his passion was very visible. Excellent Essays -Accepted

3 SAT Score 2240 Unhooked Very wll rounded Amazing Essays -Accepted

4 SAT Score 2310 Unhooked Rejected told me bad essays-Rejected

5 SAT score 2340 Unhooked Very Well Rounded but bad essays according to him- Rejected

6 SAT Score 2370 Uhooked Very Well Rounded Amazing essays- Accepted

Goes to show the importance of Essays and EC’s after you score above a certain point. Hooks help as well.

^ 6 people you know. Solid scientific sample size there…

Princeton gives nice data for this (which I cannot find unfortunately so this is from memory):
50% of 2400’s get accepted
23% of 2300-2390
13% of 2200-2290
Can’t remember much more… Please someone verify this for me.

Obviously SAT scores DO matter, even more so at near to perfection.

OP, you do not give enough details, and that laundry list does not really help. There is nothing that is immediately wow there though.

As I almost always say in these thread, you have a slim chance (from the info you have given). People on these threads are almost always hopelessly optimistic, and almost always clueless. You are an average H applicant. You may get lucky, maybe not. Just enjoy senior year and wait 3 months.

I was completely unaware that three internships in neuroscience (research related), which i want to major in is considered a laundry list of extra-curricular activities…because I’m pretty sure that everyone out there has the opportunity and has it on their application.

thanks for your advice

anyone else want to give me their advice?
I’m really NERVOUS about whether I should even
bother applying to the top schools because of my GPA
and if i should how can i possible improve

Why would you not apply? The worst that can happen is that they will say no. The best that can happen is that you go to an awesome place. Have some confidence in yourself!

Now to be more specific. GPA is possibly the most context-based variable in the entire college application process. My high school GPA at the time of applying was something like 3.7, like you. (It went up to 3.8 senior year.) My class rank wasn’t even very good. (I don’t know it, but it was probably top 30%.) Context helped me out. I am a humanities person who went to a science high school, and took the most rigorous courseload anyway. This included a lot of difficult science and math courses, which brought down my GPA. My high school was also highly nationally ranked, and quite a challenge. Had I gotten a 3.7 at a school where As are handed out like candy? That might have been more of a problem. Your resume and test scores are, regardless, good enough to make it worth a shot.

thanks that makes me feel better about applying
and its true rejection is the worst thing that could happen
or else i get in!
=] thanks a lot
