Hey,
Just a quick question for all of the users. Do extracurriculars truly matter when it comes to college application, and admission? What if I have a very high GPA and a 2200 on the SAT, as well as many community service hours? Do extracurriculars such as sports and clubs really matter? Please respond, it really helps!

The title of this thread notwithstanding, you seem to mean extracurricular activities in high school, right? And whether they carry much weight in your applications to colleges?

In most cases, extracurricular activities aren’t very important. They do matter more at really famous, selective colleges and universities, where the admissions office could fill the freshman class several times over with applicants who are well qualified academically, and they need some way to choose among them. But at most colleges and universities in the U.S., they matter a whole lot less than grades and standardized test scores do.

JRoshal: What types of schools are you targeting? 100% concur with Sikorsky’s remarks.

However, even down the line, employers want people who can work together, with leadership/mentorship potential. You should consider clubs or sports for their inherent lessons.
