I’m going to homeschool for high school. My county is very rural, so there aren’t many activities for me to participate in. I score in the top percent nationwide. I also love to dance, but there aren’t any opportunities for me here. For the most part, I love everything. I’ve played piano for almost eight years. Thanks!
My first question would be how rural. Are you talking hours or an hour away from a resemblance of a major metropolis. If within a reasonable distance then I would search for piano and dance competitions nearby. Competing in interests you have demonstrates passion. I wouldn’t be as concerned about whether you place 1st as much as just competing and doing your best to place. The whole endeavor will transform your life.
@KunjiBoy Rural as in what many people know picture as whiskey-production land…
I’ll definitely look into them!
You could create some extracurriculars of your own, finding a way to volunteer and create a program at an elementary school, volunteer at a social service agency, start your own dance studio teaching little kids.
A few years ago, a charming kid was in a similar predicament, wrote a wonderful tale of his responsibilities despite being rural. If you want a college that values activation, you need to be the sort who can find ways. And there are always people in need and local issues to tackle, organizations (civic and churches) out there doing.
