Hi guys,
I know a student who is international and wants to transfer to a good east coast college but he has had trouble getting financial aid (last year). Any tips I can give him?

He needs to read the websites of each college he is considering. Some do not award institutional aid to international students at all. Some do not award institutional aid to transfer students. Some schools are more generous but typically are the highly competitive ones.

If he had trouble getting aid as an incoming freshman, it won’t likely be easier as a transfer student.

If anything, it will much harder to get aid as a transfer student. Aid for transfer students is usually very limited.

Yep…that’s what I said it WON’T be easier getting aid as a transfer student…aid for transfer students (and particularly for international students) is very limited at many schools.

Do any schools give great FA for int’l transfers?

What is the situation of this student?

Did he/she go to a college with inadequate aid with hopes of getting better aid for a following year at another school?
