Financial Aid question: for those who have some turns w/ Tufts FA, is the FA pkg similar year to year or is there a very good FA pkg the first year , a 'teaser', and then , once you're in , the FA is not as good?

My son’s FA dropped substantially in year two, but they warned us that would happen once we no longer had two in college at the same time.

yes - this is my fear, too. We have two next yr , '14-'15, and then after that only one in college. I am very concerned about this. Is there a way to get a preview of what the FA pkg might be for yrs 2-3 w/ only one in college, I wonder?

My child got slightly more in Year 2 than Year 1, but FA is not something that lends itself to generalization like that. Our experience has been that the FA Tufts offers doesn’t deviate much from what the FAFSA deems our EFC to be.

Yes, it will drop when you just have one in college and that would be the case at any school when the award is based in need. Income and numbers change, your aid amount will change. You might want to run NPCs to see what it looks like with one kid in college, run again with two kids to see how accurate actual is to estimate. Be aware prices go up each year as do expectations that student will take on more of the load. Also upperclassmen facilities like on campus housing and some course fees and needs might be more.
