I see a post on the Iowa State forum mentioning a Facebook group of incoming freshmen. I'm not a Facebook user, but my son certainly is and he's looked for a similar group of UI with no success. Has anyone found one?

He finds CC, and particularly my use of it, quaint and primitive. :)

Beastman - have your son also search this Facebook page too:

“University of Iowa - Class of 2014 (Official Group)”

1,100 members on this one - nearly all incoming freshmen.

Yeah the first link given is the offical face book group, definately would be great if your son join as its for the incoming freshmen.

I hate to be contradictory Big10Padre, but 1100 is around 1/4 of the incoming class. The Admissions page has around 2600 students in it right now.

Full disclosure I’m one of the admission counselors for Iowa and helped set up those facebook pages. We use them to inform students of information throughout the senior year and then basically give it to students once the school year starts as their own group. We do not moderate it or any comments on it. Also, I’m on this site not to promote Iowa specifically but just to make sure that correct information is out there.

For parents, there is also a page for you to connect with other parents of incoming students. (If you aren’t on facebook it’s a great way to embarrass your student!) =D

My bad. Thanks for the clarification gole. I did not mean that the 1100 members was the entire incoming class only the the 1100 members were all incoming freshmen.

Ah, I see it now. Completely read that wrong. Danger of the internet I suppose!
